The Eudora Schools Foundation is proud to announce the establishment of the Truity Credit Union Cardinal U Scholarship, a new opportunity designed to help Eudora High School (EHS) students who qualify for free or reduced lunch earn college credit while still in high school.
Through a partnership between Truity Credit Union and the Eudora Schools Foundation, the scholarship will cover tuition costs. Applications are available each semester, with awards granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
“At Truity, we believe in investing in students and families in the communities we serve,” said Audra Fussell, Business Development Officer for Truity Credit Union. “When I served as a guest principal at Eudora High School last spring, I saw firsthand how EHS continues to expand meaningful opportunities for its students. We wanted to ensure that cost isn’t a barrier for any student who wants to get a head start on college-level learning.”
Cardinal U at Eudora High School empowers students to earn college credit, career and technical education certifications, and real-world experience through partnerships with local universities and technical schools. Families can learn more about dual credit options, tuition costs, certification programs, and how students can get ahead whether their future path is college, career, or both.
“Cardinal U continues to grow, giving our students access to college credit, technical certifications, and real-world experiences,” said Jessica Johnson, EHS Assistant Principal and Director of Cardinal Academy. “This scholarship ensures that all EHS students, regardless of financial barriers, can participate.
“We’re seeing more and more EHS students take advantage of college classes while in high school,” said Shanda Hurla, Executive Director of the Eudora Schools Foundation. “Community partnerships like this one with Truity Credit Union are essential. These scholarship funds stretch farther and support more students, helping us expand our Cardinal Promise Scholarship Opportunities at Eudora High School.”
Cardinal U’s rapid growth reflects the district’s commitment to ensuring every student is future prepared, and the Eudora Schools Foundation is expanding right alongside it. One of the newest initiatives is the Cardinal Promise Scholarship Fund, a pooled scholarship program that allows community partners, businesses, and individuals to collectively invest in helping students earn college credits while still in high school. Because these dollars are applied early when tuition costs are significantly lower, each contribution stretches farther and supports more students than traditional post-secondary scholarships. By growing this fund, the Foundation is building a sustainable path for more Eudora students to graduate with meaningful college credit and reduced future educational costs, while strengthening the community’s long-term workforce pipeline.
