ESF receives $50,000 gift - single largest gift from a donor

Thursday, May 13, 2021; Eudora, KS: The Eudora Schools Foundation (ESF), the Jim Hoover Family and Kaw Valley State Bank are pleased to announce a $50,000 gift toward three projects in the Eudora School District.

Announced at the USD#491 Board of Education meeting, the Jim Hoover Memorial and Kaw Valley State Bank’s gift is the single-largest gift in the ESF history. The gift funds three projects at each of the school buildings: electronic marquee at Eudora High School; a scoreboard at the outdoor athletic field at Eudora Middle School; and a playground fence at the outdoor classroom at Eudora Elementary School. Each of these projects support an important need that the district administrators have identified at their buildings.

"Our district is grateful for the financial support and dedication provided by the Hoover Family,” said Steve Splichal, Eudora Schools Superintendent. “They have been very open and willing to work with us to determine the right projects that best serve to benefit the school and community.  It is easy to see that our students have been the primary focus in each of the projects identified.  The generosity of the Hoover family will leave a legacy for years to come. Furthermore, this is yet another tremendous example of the unique partnership that we have between the Eudora School District and the Eudora Schools Foundation."

Each of the three projects will be installed and completed in the next several weeks. The playground fence will increase safety at the elementary outdoor classroom. The new scoreboard at the middle school will enhance the numerous outdoor student athletic events held each year. The digital marquee at the entrance to the high school will improve the effectiveness and the efficiency of communication to district families and the community.

"My Dad loved Eudora and loved helping others, especially children,” said Jason Hoover. “He would be proud of these projects and the impact they will have in Eudora schools."

“Words cannot express how grateful we are to the Hoover Family and Kaw Valley State Bank for this extraordinary gift,” said Shanda Hurla, Eudora Schools Foundation Executive Director. “Time and time again they support wonderful initiatives in our community and schools. Jim Hoover was a remarkable individual and placed a high importance on supporting children in our community. We are fortunate to see the impact of his generosity throughout Eudora and our schools. We are thankful for the Hoover family’s and Kaw Valley State Bank’s continued generosity.”
